If I was stuck on an island and could only consume one thing for the rest of my life I’d choose chocolate green juice.
I know, I know, who chooses green juice over chocolate?! As I sit here snacking on a bag of dark chocolate chips, I can hardly believe my own choice, but it is true! I would swap this whole bag for half a cup of green juice. I guess you could say it was love at first sip.
I have been known to hike 2+ hours for green juice and I cannot say that I have done that for chocolate. I will frequently center daily walks to and from juice bars and they are the first places I seek out whenever traveling. It is my java fix. Each morning before the green gold is swimming in me, I crave it and you will too!
I got hooked on green juice years ago, while at Hippocrates Health institute and have been an avid drinker since. It is simply because of how I feel when I drink it. My body feels completely wonderful. The infusion of easily accessible key nutrients that hydrate, nourish and cleanse my body, leaves me feeling energetic and strong.
We, as a western population, do not eat enough vegetables and of the ones we do eat, the three most popular vegetable choices are potatoes (fries) corn (corn syrup) and ketchup (Thank you, President Reagan). Chlorophyll is what makes plants green and is what enables photosynthesis (conversion of energy from sunlight). With its similarity in structure to hemoglobin, chlorophyll helps strengthen our blood. It also aids in energy production, detoxification and healing. Chlorophyll is an appetite suppressant, wound healer and a potent antioxidant. The stuff is golden!
We live in a toxic world. Pollution, processed foods, and stress push us towards a more acidic state. Perfect health is to be balanced and we can strive to achieve this balance by consuming alkaline foods, and green juice is alkalinity in a glass. The abundance of essential nutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and polyphenols) found in green vegetables work synergistically to pull acidic matter out of the tissues and body (like a magnet!). It detoxifies us in a toxic world and it hydrates us in a delicious way.
